Your first session
Open the browser app at piano-duet.vercel.app. On first use, it downloads the piano samples and any models needed for the selected mode; they are cached on your device.
Set up the microphone
Section titled “Set up the microphone”Put your device or an external microphone near the piano. A quiet room helps. The browser’s built-in voice noise suppression, echo cancellation and automatic gain control are turned off to preserve musical attacks.
When you first tap Start, the browser asks for microphone access. If you denied it, check your browser and device microphone permissions. Choose the input device in Settings before turning the microphone on.
Start and play
Section titled “Start and play”Tap Start to begin listening. On a keyboard, press Space.
- Reading starts listening immediately. Pause and Resume control listening.
- Drills end each take by themselves shortly after you stop.
- Library listens for the notes of an imported score and waits at each attack.
On phones, use the mode menu to switch between Reading, Drills and Library. Turn the phone sideways for a wider score. Exercise details, help, settings and progress open in panels. Mic off releases the microphone and stops playback. Stop is also available during processing or playback.
Pick a mode
Section titled “Pick a mode”| Mode | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Reading | Sight-reading fresh scores, one note at a time |
| Drills | Scales, arpeggios, chords and Hanon at a steady tempo |
| Library | Learning full pieces from MIDI, MusicXML or a recording |
If notes are missed or misheard
Section titled “If notes are missed or misheard”Microphone transcription is approximate. Room acoustics, pedal resonance, fast repeated notes and distant microphones can cause missing or extra notes. Note confidence, near the top of Settings under Listening, defaults to 0.80. Raise it gradually if you get extra notes, or lower it if notes are missed. Reading and drill progress is available from the level button.
